Summer and Fall
My brother David and I were extremely lucky to have such great parents.  During the polio epidemic my brother came down with it and a few days later I did.  My parents took us to Herman Keifer Hospital and of course they were so crowded.  So my parents brought us home and had the doctor show them what to do,  every couple hours they would have to get up and do physical therapy on the two of us.  Thanks to my parents my brother and I both were never crippled from it. They gave us that extra loving care. And they also had to fight some of the neighbors who didn't want us at home then.

Every summer when we were kids we always went on vacation.  When I was 4 years old I remember my father driving to California to visit the family. Can you imagine driving from Michigan to California with 3 little kids.  Oh boy what patients my parents had. Dad and Mom would take us camping for 2 weeks every summer.  All over Michigan.  We had wonderful times. Even when dad would get us misplaced in the woods and mom would be panicking. Then when we got older, Bob and Dad would go Fishing and hunting every year.  They would load up the freezer for winter with fish and deer.  And dad could cook the best venison dishes, that even his grandkids would be excited to go eat at gramps and grams.  There are so many memories in my life that I could write a book on.  And they were mostly all great ones.

Linda Martin and Ronald Aune were married. As dad walked me down the aisle I could not look at him nor could he look at me.  We both knew that if we did we would start crying and not be able to stop.

Linda and John were married in Mom and Dads living room.  The family was present.  John asked permission first from Dad.  Mayor Brown and Councilman Mark Kandes were also present.  We had a reception at the house following the service.  It was wonderful and made Dad very happy. As well as everyone else. He sat in his chair and smiled.  And wanted his champagne to toast. Even though he wasn't feeling the best he still had his smile.

2005
At 3:05 am on April 19, 2005 at the age of 80 the angels came and lifted a Great Man to Heaven.  His family was there.  He passed very peacefully.  And is now out of pain that he has had for so many years.  But did not complain about.  He always could share a smile.  Even at the end.
