THANKSGIVING PRAYER  / BETH Dickerson (Jimmy's Mom )
Dear Father who art in Heaven...
Please join our family on this Thanksgiving Day
and bless each one as we sit down to pray
as we remember those who have joined you above
so dearly missed and deeply loved.

Please provide us strength on this Thanksgiving Day
Bless us with memories of those faraway...
Please grant patience to family and friends as we grieve
and help us reach out to others who are bereaved.

We give thanks to you on this Thanksgiving Day....
For Your presence in our lives each and everyday.
For Your comfort, guidance, and never ending love...
And for taking care of our loved ones...in Heaven above.

As we light this candle on this Thanksgiving Day...
And it glows in memory of those in Heaven today....
May their lights always shine down on us and give us light...
And may we feel their presence along with yours tonight.

May the peace and tranquility of this Thanksgiving Day
Be an everlasting light within each of us along the way...
Lets bow our heads and give our Thanks to God above.
For our blessings, whether on earth or in Heaven above...
Amen

Just an update  / Linda (Daughter)
Pops,

The reunion this year was a tremendous success.  I could not make it but I heard all about it.  Serg. came and visited me after dinner on Sat. night.  You remember him.  Boy pops he walked into my room and what a sight for sore eyes.  As all he wears that uniform with such pride.  I am so proud of them.  There was alot of military here this year.  And of all times when I couldn't make it they had the battle streamers.  I have wanted to see them forever.  lol.

Now on to your team Detroit Tigers.  Did you notice at the beginning of the year, I put a saying for you on.  Go Detroit.?  They heard you.  They just beat the NY Yankees 3 games - 1.  So now we play Oakland A's, boy I'll bet there is alot of talk huh.  Aunt Mary & Uncle Conrad are taking you on.  Well GO TIGERS!!

Michigan beat Michigan State again.  I know GO BLUE.  I am sure your grandsons are crying hahahah.  It was a great game.  I know you seen it.

Just wanted to talk to you.  As always.....Miss you and Love you.

twma,

Love,
Linda

My Dearest Dad,
It has been 1 year today that you went with the angels. How different this year has been.  I thought you would live forever. At least I prayed for that. You were always such a wonderful father. Understanding, fun, loving, devoted.  Oh how I miss our nighttime talks. But I still have them with you.

Your family that you always worried about is okay.  We speak your name alot. You will never be forgotten. I hope you have your wings because there are little ones that need their guardian angels.  I know you are watching over all of us.  And I thank you.  That has always been the type of man you were.  Just wanted to tell you that even though you are not in our sight you are never out of memories.  Thanks for the nighttime hugs.  Till we meet again, I love you so very much, and miss you terribly.

Your Daughter,
Linda xoxo

Matt / Linda (Daughter)
Dad, I know you must have heard the conversation that I had tonight with Julia and Matt.  Julia and I were discussing parents and children.  Matt was in the living room playing video games.  But all of a sudden he got up and came into the kitchen and told me gram don't worry about papaA I see him every night and he is doing fine.  He told me he sees you in the stars. I asked him to tell you hi for me and that I love you and he told me okay I will do that.  He reminded me that you and him were buds. We chuckled and I told him yes you were papaA buddy.  What a special time that was tonight when he talked. I guess I need to look into the stars more like he does. Love you. Close

THANK YOU!!  / Your Pitbull (Granddaughter)
Well, I knew you would not let your pitbull down. Thank you for the help. I saw the doe and Uncle Bob told me to take it. (It was the size of the ones you like to shoot...lol) Then I asked you to send in a big one and you did. I got a 6 pointer, should of been an 8 but it lost it's brine. Either way, I made all the rest of the guys very jealous and green with envy, and my Uncle is very proud. (So is the rest of the gang) I think Uncle Bob has a new hunting partner, I know that it is not the same as having you there, but I think it will work. You just have to keep on my shoulder and look over me like yesterday and I'm sure we will do well every year.  Thanks Papa and I love you.  Your favorite and only Pitbull Close

3rd Cavalry Reunion 2005  / Linda (Your daughter )

Dad,
As you were promised on April 16, 2005 by your family we all went to the 3rd Cav. Reunion.  Mom, Bob, John, Grandpa Charlie, Becky, Ronnie, Paul and Ilene, Curt, Poranee and myself were all there in your honor on Sat. night.  And I know you were there in spirit.  Mom and i went from Wed. to Sunday.  Mom did a very good job as you know she always has.  Unfortunately dad I tried to be strong but I let you down a couple times.  I sure did miss you.  The Reunion was a great success.  You would have enjoyed it.  The Retired General, Colonial, Serg. and the soldiers were all there.  Tex the bagpiper led the colors as he promised. The reunion will be held again in 2006 here in Detroit.  We told you we wouldn't let it fade away.  When little Jimmy Duggan saw me he hugged me and told me how much he loved you.  I will always fulfill my duties to you and stay as active as I can with the 3rd.  I can see why you were always so proud to be one of the Band of Brothers.  They are all terrific people.  Maybe next year I won't be such a wreck.  I tried dad.  You would have been very proud of your grandkids they did very well.  They took very good care of mom and me and grandpa.  He also had a hard time of it.  I just wanted to let you know the promise was fulfilled.  I knew nobody would let you down.  We all miss you and love you so very much.  Tomorrow Hospice is having the Memorial for you and Gram. I hope you can help me out again to be strong.  I love you and miss you.

Happy 60th Anniversary  / Your Daughter
Dad, 60 years ago today was one of your happiest days of your life. You and mom were at Fort Bragg and you became husband and wife.  You both were very young and you didn't know each other for very long.  But apparently God put two very special people together and through the good and the hard times you set a example that even though you didn't have the best childhood you made sure your family did.  You were never a quitter. Nor was mom.  I wish we could be getting ready to celebrate with a large party for you and mom.  Mom did tell us that you apologized to her for not being able to make it but we understand. You are watching over us today and always. And I just wanted to wish you a Very Happy 60th Anniversary.  Mom and I will come and see you todya and I will take her for dinner or brunch.  I know it is nothing like it would be if you were here but it will do. We all miss you and love you so very much.  The love and laughter you always had.will be missed even more today.  Thank you dad for our lives together.

Happy 60th Anniversary to the best dad & mom ever.

I love you and miss you.

Hi Dad,
Just wanted to jot a few notes down. Just wanted to tell you how proud I know you would be of your grandkids and great grandkids. I know you are watching out for all of us and I know there are reasons for things that happen.  And I know that it is not for us to question. You have given you grandkids such strength and family values.  They are always here when needed. Right now we have to be here for the pitbull. Matt was going to start preschool tomorrow but we have to postpone that until Becky gets out of the hospital. I know you are with her and watching out for her. Matt talks to you all the time. He still don't want to bring Shrek home because that is yours and he wants it in your room.  Someday. Mom and Bob are doing okay. The reunion is coming and it is not the same preparing for it as it was last year.  I am struggling some with the program but I know it will come to me soon. Mom is worried as always. All the kids are going to be there like they promised you on Saturday night.  They won't let you down. Well I just needed to talk to you its getting late now and I will be watching the little ones tomorrow. So for now I will say goodnight and I love you.  You take care. And I will light your candle tomorrow.

Love you.

Just wanting to talk  / Linda (Daughter)
Hi Dad,
Just came home from taking care of mom this weekend.  She is doing pretty good. Bob was in charge of the National shoot for the kids this weekend.  His boys team which you know well, the ones Bob has coached for alot of years won the National title today.  I know you would be proud.  Bob did a great job.  Julia turned 8 on Saturday. Boy is she getting big.  She stayed with mom and I Friday night.  I didn't want mom to get bored. lol.  Also spoke to your cousin Betty today.  She is doing pretty good.  She seems so very nice.  And would fit right in with our gang.   Well other than missing you terribly that is about it for now.  Talk to you later.  Love you and Goodnight. Dad, it has been 3 months today that you went to be with all our loved ones. There has not been a day that I haven't thought about you.  I know you are at peace and for that I thank God.  I know you want us to be strong and we all are trying very hard. But when you lose someone as loving, caring and special like you were it is so very hard.  Please help us get the strength that you always had.  Thank you for being the most terrific father and friend.  I miss you and love you very much. God saw you getting tired, and a cure was not to be.
So He put his arms around you and whispered, "Come with me".  With tearful eyes we watched you suffer and saw you fading away.  Although we loved you dearly, We could not make you stay.  A golden heart stopped beating. Working hands were put to rest. God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.

Do Not Weep  / Linda Martin Bosnyak (Daughter)
My father picked this out years ago.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there, I do not sleep
I am a thousand winds that blow
I am the diamond's gift of snow

I am the sunlight on ripened grain
I am the autumn's gentle rain
When you awaken in the morning's
            hush
I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight
I am the soft stars that shine
          at night
Do not stand at my grave and cry

  I am not there
          I did not die.
